About the Show

Kingsbridge Show 2017 will be at Borough Farm, TQ9 7QP one mile north of Kingsbridge on the A381, on Saturday 2nd September.

Kingsbridge Show continues to grow whilst trying to maintain that local feel, keeping it's traditional agricultural and horticultural roots.

Horses feature strongly in the show. They have their own show field, with events running right through the day. Horse judging begins at 9am.

There is something for everyone - and so much to see and do - it's a great family day out whether you farm, ride or just want to see "a little piece of rural England" and enjoy the atmosphere.

There is a FREE shuttle bus service from Kingsbridge Quay running from 10am all day, Bus timetable to follow.

Disabled parking is available, for badge holders, in the show field by the main ring. (This space is obviously limited and though The Show makes every effort to assist we cannot guarantee a position). Seating is provided around the show ground on benches and hay bales. There is a disabled toilet on site. Please contact kingsbridge.show@btinternet.com or call 01752 896120 to book a disabled parking space.

Please note that The Show is run on fields usually holding cattle - there are no specific paths or routes which do not involve traversing this grass.

Chief Horse Steward: Lesley Freeman

Lesley manages our equine section wonderfully, a keen horserider herself she knows all there is to know about the classes on offer and is a mine of information when exhibitors have queries.  Lesley has been the Chief Steward for this section for some years now and we'd be lost without her!  Lesley can be contacted on 01548 561072 or email lesley@rduncan.co.uk

Chief Cattle Steward: John Woodley

John - to be honest there were so many things we could say about John we just didn't know where to start.  He's always on the show ground to help with the setting up and is often seen running from one point to another to get the job done in the fastest time possible.  Always reliable (but a tad late on occasion) we all know that if we need a hand John will be there to lend his support.  Thanks John!

Chief Sheep Steward: Jonathan Kendall

Jonathan was brought up on a farm in the Kingsbridge area. He has been a sheep steward at the show for over a decade and joined the show committee in 2008 taking over as chief sheep steward in 2012 following the retirement of Linda Chilcott. The sheep section of the show has a friendly and hardworking team of stewards who assist in setting up before the day and on the show day.

Fleeces, Arable, Hay, Corn & Straw Chief Steward:  Joan Soper
This is Joan's third year as Chief Steward of this section having transferred over from the Members Tent in 2014.  During this time Joan has introduced more classes and added additional cups to win on the day.  Always one to lend a hand we know that we can count on Joan as the pressure mounts in the lead up to the big day.

Horticulture Chief Steward: Jackie Case

As far as Jackie is concerned Kingsbridge Show Horticultural Section is one of the best in the area. It is open to all comers. Competitors can show in extensive classes of fruit, vegetables, flowers, plants, wine and floral arrangements.  Jackie can be found on the site with husband Bob in the run up to the day and always has a moment to talk horticulture - her flowers are always beautiful.  For help and advice, contact Jackie on 01548 852708

Floral Art Chief Steward: Marguerite Pritchard

Marguerite has a passion for the Floral Art Section and rightly so too as it's always full of the most beautiful displays in the area.  We are very proud to have her with us on the committee and we always look forward to seeing the exhibitors interpretations of the classes because the variety of flowers and the vibrant colours are absolutely stunning - please take time to see this section of the marquee.

Children's Arts & Crafts Section Chief Steward: Apple Taylor

This is the third year of Apple being the Children's Section Chief Steward, she has brought renewed passion to the section with a variety of new classes covering three age ranges between 4 - 16 years.

Homecraft Chief Steward: Ann Brooks

Ann has looked after this section for a number of years, the twenty four classes cover a variety of talents from jam making to photography and a selection of handicraft classes.  There's something for everyone and no age limitations, so get your children cooking the Victoria Sandwhich while you produce lemon curd and your parents try out the photography classes.

Country Scene Tent - Chief Steward - Angela Heath

Angela organises the display of animals including children's pet classes (rabbits, guinea pigs etc) poultry, pond area and other animals suitable for children eg donkeys, goats, pony & foal, rare breeds, and also rural art and craft displays. Any queries or further information - 01548 531273

Joint Chief Gate Stewards: John Rossiter, Richard Foss & Richard Bath

The car parks and gate entrances and exits are very efficiently organised and run with a huge band of volunteers assisting!  Believe us when we say that it's no mean feat to achieve this successfully, year after year.  Our Gate Stewards are worth their weight in gold and we want to thank them for doing such a wonderful job from organising signage, health & safety policies and general management of the huge volumes of traffic we see on show day.  Well done team!

Advertising & Sponsorship: Jen Brogan

There are many sponsorship and advertising opportunities here at the Kingsbridge show.  If you'd like to be included in our programme/schedule or if you want to find out how you can gain additional exposure through sponsorship please contact us on 01752 896120 or e-mail kingsbridge.show@btinternet.com

Special Attractions Secretary: Samantha Short

2015 was Sams first year as Special Attractions Secretary having taken over from Julie Higgin.  She books the special attractions and then oversees the smooth running of the day.  Sam knows plenty about special attractions as she's also the manager of the Kingsbridge Information Centre - if you want to know something about the local area, what to see (and what not to see) contact Sam and her amazing team of volunteers on 01548 853195

Cup Secretary: Shirley Barrett
Shirley started with the show trophies when she was just 16 years old working for Luscombe Maye!  Since then she has had some years off but has always been persuaded to come back to the fold.  On show day you'll find Shirley working hard in the Secretary Tent, logging all the results and recording all the cup winners.  If you've ever won a trophy at the show Shirley is the person behind the scenes who made sure you received it.

Dog Show Organiser: Anita McCoy
Anita (or Neets as we all know her) has managed the dog show for many years, seeing it grow in popularity year on year.  This is the one element of the show whereby entries are accepted only on the day, we have twenty classes each of which are allocated at least six rosettes - make no mistake, that's a lot of rosettes for a lot of dogs.  All dogs are welcome on the show ground providing they are on a non retractable lead and are kept under control.

AND FINALLY...

We have many many volunteers who help us every year to create a show that remains fresh, exciting, forward thinking and one which has developed positively over the years.  It should never be underestimated how much this amazing team of people do for the show over the course of a year and we want to thank each and every person who has ever been involved with the show for all their support.  We really couldn't do it without you and we trust that you enjoy it as much as we do!
